With over 2,000 children in Orange County requiring safe and stable families and housing, either temporarily or permanently, The Raise Foundation supports County of Orange Social Services Agency’s efforts to recruit new resource families.
The Raise Foundation, convening Orange County’s Child Abuse Prevention Council, has distributed thousands of resource family recruitment public awareness since 2018 through in-person and digital channels.
The Raise Foundation hosted resource family advocate, and former Los Angeles Rams Defensive End, Reggie Doss during the City of Irvine Annual Prayer Breakfast in 2019. Reggie presented alongside his wife Tamara Doss, “Get in the Game: The Need for Resource Families”, to 250 breakfast attendees.
“Resource families—which include foster parents, foster-to-adopt families, and kinship caregivers—are critical partners for child welfare professionals because they provide care for children who cannot live with their parents, and they can play a supportive role in reunification. A broad range of resource families are needed to support the many needs of children and youth involved in out-of-home care.” -- childwelfare.gov
